Unified Payments Interface (UPI)

Which of the following is a most likely consequence of implementing the ‘Unified Payments Interface (UPI)’?

(a) Mobile wallets will not be necessary for online payments.

(b) Digital currency will totally replace the physical currency in about two decades.

(c) FDI inflows will drastically increase.

(d) Direct transfer of subsidies to poor people will become very effective.

Solution: (a) Mobile wallets will not be necessary for online payments.

Extreme words

Option B:  totally replace
Option C: drastically
Option D: very effective

UPI allows a customer to pay directly from a bank account to different merchants, both online and offline, without the hassle of typing credit card details, IFSC code, or net banking/wallet passwords. So, A is correct

Direct transfer of subsidies to poor people will become very effective is inappropriate in this context (as we are not talking about government to people transfer through UPI).

Digital currency replacing the physical currency and increase in FDI inflows are uncertain events, hence discarded.
